    Question

Test 1, 2, 3. Just seeing if reply feature works. I also tried a new topic and it got wiped-out. Still bugs on boards, but it seems quicker now without that previous terrible time lag.

It seems that long posts get wiped out but short posts do not. This is awful. (You know how long winded I am!)

gotta love those thrift store movies. I'm always expecting some lost wierd snuff film. They're fun though. The alphabet in the film reminds me of Lynch.

    My new Work Printer Works!

Roger put a variable speed dial on it for me. We had to slow it down to a speed my computer would take.

My computer is a PII 300 MHz. What it needs is a "Raid Card". Do a search on that phraise and you will find tutorials. Roger got Jeff Dodson to explain how HE did it. Finally I understand. The fix is cheap and with one more hard drive just like the one I now use will speed up my computer enough to capture at 6 fps instead of the 2 fps I use now. Whew!

No effort was spared to help me with this and I appreciate it. Part of my first capture was put up on Andreas's site in the ..upload/manual directory. The full file is now up.

I had captured with auto iris and manually deleted all the flash frames between scenes. A better way, Roger says, is to set the camera to manual exposure for an average scene and do a full capture of the entire film. Then, if some scenes are too light or dark, do it again at different settings. That way no flash frames are recorded. The time required for such fixes may be the same either way.

Any way, thanks for getting me started.

Actually, I've started putting a speed control on all the new WorkPrinter-2 units. It seems all my earlier customers had raid drives and when people with single drives started using the WorkPrinter-2, some could no keep up with the 6fps rate. The speed control solves that problem entirely.

Also, you were using an analog board which requires a bit of processing to convert the analog signal; something that firewire boards don't have to deal with.

It's a fun clip from someone's old home movie. I am inspired to go out looking in junk shops for old home movies. Aaron is right, though. You keep half expecting to find some long forgotten snuf film or something.

My pleasure. People looking at the clip should know that the camera was not aligned dead on so there is some vignetting at the right that normally does not show up at all. This was a test that Michael was doing to verify the synch and not picture quality. He ultimately got the unit lined up perfect and emailed me some great stills from an old silent movie (which I can't find or I would post them!) Maybe Michael will post them for us.
